Welcome to Natural and Attachment Parents of Richmond, a place of support, education, and friendship for parents who practice natural living and attachment parenting. Attachment parenting, or AP, is a philosophy based on nurturing parenting practices that create strong emotional bonds, known as secure attachment, between infants and parents. This style of parenting encourages responsiveness to the child's emotional needs, and develops trust that emotional needs will be met. By fulfilling a child's need for trust, empathy, and affection, AP provides a foundation for healthy relationships to last a lifetime. AP practices help to reduce or prevent child abuse, behavioral disorders, crime, and other serious social problems.

Natural living and attachment parenting are broad terms that encompass all kinds of families and beliefs, but commonly, parents practice or support extended breastfeeding, co-sleeping, cloth diapering, homeschooling, baby wearing, natural childbirth, and healthy living choices, and many do not practice circumcision, vaccination, or sleep training such as the "cry it out" method.
